I can't remember quickly about circ strikes but in the 79S and 81S proofs there are Ty1 and Ty2. The Ty1 is a clear s on both. The Ty2 is a filled s (sort of looks like a blob). The Ty1 is the rare one in both years. Ty2 is common.

Think I got that right.

1979 type 1 filled mintmark.

Type-Question-?
1979 type 2 clear sans serif mintmark.

Type-Question-?
The 1981 type 1 mintmark is the same as used for the 1979 type 2, sans serif style.

1981 type 2 mintmark, serifs added.

Type-Question-?
