@Susuman, your 3 cent coin is in a good condition! Hope you would enjoy having it in your collection!

She offered me sixpence for each and when I pointed out that I could sell them for 9d to the antique shop, she gave me a shilling each. |

I am surprised you would make a wee profit off your granny! That means you have a good business sense.
I agreed with you about brass 3d coins being dangerous if they were used in the Puddings! I think it is a bit odd that the Government would continue issuing silver 3d coins along more common brass 3d coins. Was it because of the Puddings?
I will ask my Dad about whether they used Irish 3d coins when they stopped issuing silver 3d coins. I was told in the Nationalist areas they do accept Irish notes, not sure about coins. That would be a good topic for me to have a chat about with my Dad.
I think we stopped putting coins in our Puddings but I do know some people will buy a silver token in the place of old 3d coins.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Please forgive me for not posting sooner. I feel terrible. Life has been hectic since the secret santa names/addresses first went out and I think I've been on CCF once maybe in that time.
My package arrived safely awhile ago and I've been in communication with my generous santa. I will be happy to post pictures later. I just wanted to get a post in.
Thanks are certainly in order to the three secret santas who sent gifts to my boys. Alex and Matthew were so excited to receive two packages from here in the US, one from Turkey and one from Canada just arrived 30 minutes ago. I have not told them yet. (the other gift is Alex's MRI shows no tumors, which is part of the reason for my absence).
Again, it has been weighing on my mind that I need to express my gratitude. I just should have done it sooner.

@mmerc20, happy to hear that your boys are happy with their gifts! If I am not wrong, going by what you were saying, there is supposed to be four secret Santas? Perhaps I am mistaken?
I am very pleased for your boy Alex! Hope things will go well for him! Will keep him in my prayers if you do not mind.

The Macintosh of Macintosh, laird of Moy, where Granny lived with her grandparents, paid 12 times face for any Scottish coins. Granny told me that with the first chunk of savings from such sales, she went off to Inverness and bought the Iliad in Greek and the Aeneid in Latin. I have those books now. Although, they cost her a ridiculous amount, they only have sentimental value now. |

Certainly it was nothing to do with puddings. Pridmore said that it was people complained how easy they were to use but if that were the case, why didn't they do so before. Quote:
