I think this is a fantastic idea; I have learned the hard way though that more often than not, unless you find the right kid, the coins will just be spent... So chocolate coins, or foreign coins work best - and if you go this route, you can make a decent packet with a fair amount less that $5 worth of stuff.
I have tried to encourage a couple of my nephews, and they seem hung up on the monetary aspect of numismatics; I am wondering if sending kids a packet of some sort should maybe be a wholly separate "exchange"?
Are there not youth coin/numismatic clubs in many of your areas? There is one here, and when my boy is old enough, I hope to get him to join.

A little under 4 hours left I was delayed with this post because the last few people who registered FAILED to send me their email and I had to search for them. Not nice to make Santa Work!

The random generator has been engaged You have all been matched up.
Now I have to pull out those of you that have requested specific country assignments and reassign those that the generator did not match countries to.
Once this process has been completed, I will begin the task of sending out individual emails After I get done with my Workshop assignments (employment) this afternoon
Stand by You will receive the emails in the next 24 hours.

I think this year I may be the first person who has sent to his assigned person, using my timezone advantage over North American forum members. It's on signed for mail to avoid it getting lost travelling so far away. It's going to a country where I have never been to. I will travel lots of kilometers. I hope my recipient gets it before Christmas. Thank you for organising this for us Richard.

"There are two names I will be adding they are the children of one of our collectors who do not have forum accounts but are beginning collectors and I thought it would be a nice gesture to include them- Thoughts?"
For those of us who wish to send coins to these two "new" collectors, in addition to our assigned recipient, how will we be notified?

Molydeii will be pleased to know that his Christmas gift has just begun its long journey to Turkey.
I am also doing secret Santa on Numista and got assigned a person in Serbia, so both letters may have company to London and then likely Berlin at least.
