It amazes me how well cities were captured in 16-18th century European Talers. I put together a nice sample capturing various cities. These are not owned by me, yet
I couldn't agree more Zohar. I think cityviews are an amazing window into history. It is particularly interesting to see historical buildings that are represented in german/austrian city state scenes still standing in their original historical context.
This 1781 taler from Eichstatt was interesting because it took a slightly different cityview approach with its aerial 3D view.
