This is a neat-looking off center, but I am totally unfamiliar with the large bevel around the coin. It shows concentric lathe marks, but they do follow the off center so were on the coin before the strike. Looking for help understanding what this is. Weight is 3.05g. 1959 D Lincoln Memorial cent mint error - off center

That is a nice looking off center.
I would think those concentric lines on the rim were from the upturning machine that put the protorim on the coin. Something must have been intererring with the upturn process to create a wide protorim like that. Maybe another cent boogering up the process?

Very cool and interesting coin. Is the coin thicker than usual? -CH27

That is a very odd coin. From the pictures it appears thicker than a normal cent, or is that an optical illusion?

The diameter is a standard 19mm, but in hand it certainly feels thicker. Not sure if that is real or just a tactile illusion given the oddity of the coin.

Would be interested to hear Mike Diamond's opinion on what this could be.

Yes exactly my thought—not struck on a US cent planchet.

I'm at a loss here. Metal copper button without the holes? Copper slug that mint employee through in hopper before being struck. As John1 and Spence said struck on a foreign planchet. This is quite interesting.
