are the "wood grained" looking pennies something people just collect for fun or is there some sort of reason behind this look on the coin
I have noticed many of the 80's coins usually have this look

Slash - the Canadians have varieties to look for, also. There's a 1952 doubled date among others.

Nothing special but thought I would share.... 1967 LMC that appears to have handled circulation well.  And this 82 LMC that by all accounts appears to be UNC. I have this coin posted in the grading section if you care to opine. https://goccf.com/t/67394  Edited by JimR

Bad Thad: Thanks! slash112; I personally collect them cause I like the way they look, as for any premium value, maybe. Nice counter stamps scotty11 and Gutkowski! Here is a counter-punched 2000 LMC I found a while ago. I don't know what this symbol is supposed to represent,if anything at all, but it looks neat.   |
