I really like this thread. Interesting and keeps me interested! Can hardly wait until next week when I can buy a few rolls of pennies from my bank. Also kind of excited after my neighbor told me he has a big jar of pennies he's filled, hates pennies, and says he will drop them off for me whenever he gets around to picking them up. Says there are about $10 worth and he'll just trade for cash value. Nice! I only hope I can get my computer issues sorted out and my scanner functioning again by then. Would love to add some of my own finds to this thread.

By the way, it's driving me nuts trying to figure out what became of my US 1909 penny I had. I've been looking in containers and drawers hoping to find it again. I sure hope I didn't spend it

Is there such a thing as "too many S mints"?

1968-S thru 1974 S-mint Memorials have the lowest mintage #'s if I'm not mistaken. (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here)

I keep each and every one I find.

Scotty - congrats on the 1912-S. I bought one of those a couple of weeks ago for my Whitman folder and it wasn't as nice as that one!

Since my wife found several wheat cents in our last $25.00 box, she decided to join me today for another box I just bought from US Bank. We started on the box together about an hour and half ago and just finished it. This was todays harvest:

1929-S
1934
1937x2
1941
1942
1944x5
1945-D
1946x3
1946-S
1948-D
1950
1951-D
1952-D
1953-Dx3
1956-D
1957
1957-Dx2

Canadian:5
Oddball:2004 Commonwealth of the Bahamas
Post 59 S mints:3

All in all, with 27 wheats in one box with a good mixture of dates, I must say that this is probably one of our best boxes. Now time to cash these in and start again. I think I'm creating a monster with her though.

I went to the bank this morning to get a box or a bag of cents. The teller said that had three bags and said jokingly that I had to take all three. She said that they had set in a barn for several years. There are a lot of early 80's that are BU. This should be interesting. I did get all three bags.

Nice find Scott! The oldest Canadian I've found was a 1929.

Congrats on the 3 bags still_lookin! Rake those 80's BU cents out of these. Especially look for the 1986-D's, about $30 a roll in BU (60 cents each).

King George looks like he got a hockey stick to the face
:)
my box I got a few days back was pretty bad for me
oldest wheat being 1939, and only finding about 10 wheats
I usually find that many in 10 dollars of CWR
oh well, worth a try, plus I still wanna find an indian and I think my best odds for that is in a box
