Giving up after 2 boxes? You can't expect to hit it big right away... Roll hunting is all about being patient and persistent.

wait til you do 1000 dollars worth of pennies - it will all balance out. Good with the bad. Some boxes you get 5 wheats, one I got 275. don't give up yet.

ps - as far as wheaties go, the vast majority of what I find are common dates 40's and 50's. I figured I would see a little higher percentage of 10's, 20's and 30's - but I think I have done enough now (probably on order of 2000$ worth) to see what is "typical".

Die clashes cannot occur down into the devices.....it's impossible. Think about the die itself, the devices are recessed, if dies come together without a planchet, only the fields can be affected.

Makes sense.......I stand corrected!

To open a box just to extract wheat cents seems like a waist of time to me. If you just extract the copper and return the zinc you are passing on a lot of interesting coins. Coppercoins.com lists 16 coins valued at $10.00 and above plus another 19 between $5 and $10. (these are values for F12 grade). They have many more at $3.00 and below. If you can't afford the time to check every coin you should at least be checking 1988P&D,1992P&D,1998P,1999P,2000P for transitional reverse varieties.
Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

I went out of state and in one day was able to get 4 boxes and $65 in loose rolls.Locally two of the three banks in my town (pop.2500) let me get rolls or boxes. My advice; get a new bank.
