Most banks allow non members get like 20-25 dollars in rolls or change even if you do get an account you only have to have a small balance. Just tell them you don't need a debit card or checks just use it for coins then go to the different branches.

I never thought of that before, but you are probably right.

Just walk up to the teller,if the teller asks what you want or "may I help you" or something like that, just say "I would like to get some pennies." The teller will ask "How many?" or "How much?".Then you reply," I would like a box but if you can't do that then 10 dollars worth." (you can ask for more I like ten because I can carry that much loose.)

Greetings all,

Its been awhile since an update! I haven't kept statistics as far as dollars searched (somehwere between $25 and $100/week depending on bags filling) but I have found some cool gems recently:

1899 IHC
1913, 1914, 1917D Wheats
1943 x3, 1943S all from one coin counter bag
1960 German 2 Pfennig & a German two euro
2009 Formative Years with the 'extra finger' (looks similar to 2009P-1DR-082)

Overall things have been good. I went through about two months where my boxes weren't producing anything older that 1944. Thankfully that streak has ended! Happy hunting!

- Scott

How do you calculate the percent of copper you get per box I'm not good with finding percents haha. And I didnt look for all s mints that time but next time I'm going to for sure I might even go back and look through them to find some s-mints and save them all in a jar

am I calculating this right?
864/2500x100 gives me 33 is that the percent of copper I found?

I always ask for a box of pennies. The tellers are confused every time I've asked for a "box of cents" and they say "do you mean pennies?". LOLOLOLOL

Yvair - agreed. I'll take whatever and I generally take as much as they will give me. The best is when I go into a bank and ask for half dollars and the tellers eyes light up and she says "how many". I say - I'll take all that you have" and then she says, "we have a lot", I say "I'll take 'em all". They might have 1000 or 1500 dollars worth. If you don't grab em all, someone else will - and you will be kicking yourself. I hit a box of pennies that was loaded with 275 wheats one time. problem was I only used cash and not money in my account and ended up with half the box. After the first couple rolls, I realized I NEEEDED to go back and get the rest.
