Well I got the new microscope set up and used it to examine a 1964-D from my most recent box that I suspect may be an RPM. Here's the pic:



I'm very happy with the new USB microscope. It was easy to setup and it only took me about half an hour fiddling around with it and it's software to get comfortable with it. This is SOOOOOO much easier on my eyes than using my loupe. I love this thing!

I've posted this photo to the varieties and errors forum to see if others think it's an RPM or not.

@ConfederateHalf What brand of scope is that. Where can I find a set up like that?

The microscope is one of the better quality ones manufactured in China and sold to American microscope companies that are looking to add inexpensive, but well-featured scopes to their offerings.

My microscope was purchased form Bodelin Technologies out of Lake Oswego, Oregon. They call it the "ProScope Edu" and it set me back $119.00 plus S&H. However, I subsequently found this exact same microscope being sold by a company called Levenhuk, but they labeled it as the "DTX 90" model microscope. It is clear form the pictures and the specs, that it's the same scope from the same Chinese manufacturer. Levenhuk sells it for $99.95 plus S&H.

I have been researching this purchase on and off for months and I believe this is probably just about the best quality and features you can find in a Chinese model below $150.00.

American manufactured scopes from firms like Dino-Lite and Firefly are a step up in quality from these if you don't mind spending $300 - $700, but I decided that was just too much dough to drop and the features of these scopes did not justify the big jump in price.

I've only been using this scope for a day, but so far it is meeting all of my expectations. It appears to be well constructed and the stand is sturdy, and the whole setup functions beautifully for use with coins. The software installed easily on my Windows 8.1 desktop and no software glitches have been observed thus far. So far, I am a happy camper.

Slow start - nice finish. Average number of LWCs, but a couple nice coins in that mix. A number of nice Zincolns and a large number of Canadian cents with a few older coins and a couple in very nice condition. Here are the fun pic's;

Me too Child. The 26 and 27s came late in the box but glad to see they were there.
