How do I find so many WAM's ? ?

Here is my system..... I go through Approx. $225 of pennies a week....

I have a "Ryedale" coin sorter to sort zincs from copper, I only sort 92, 92-D, 95 and 98-2000 from the zincs, then re-roll the zincs to be swapped back out for other $25 fed boxes asap, I save the coppers to sort through after I have processed all my zincs, and then hoard all my coppers, I've been chasing WAM's since 2010

It doesn't help to have an addictive personality, I can chase WAM's all night sometimes......

What is un-charactoristic for #'s is that I've pulled (4) 2000's from this last $125 I picked up from the bank ! ! !

The 95 DDO still has eluded me.....geography and numbers I think

I sort most of my coppers on weekends and holidays....

There are 100's of varieties and errors we could look for, so ask yours self, "what's your goal", and cut the fat

Impressive system William. Working a couple processes efficiently has a nice payoff. How much time do you dedicate on average to your system each week? One box will take me 2 weeks to sort manually. You do 18 in that same span. And I might do around 5 rolls a night at about 1-2 hours (I keep CCF up in that interval so I do browse/respond in that span as well).

To share my system..........with pictures

There are 13 banks that I buy or swap pennies out with.....
I approach the counter with 1 - $25 box and 1 - $10 tray to swap out, I find that rarely do the banks not have pennies to swap, but they don't always have them to sell

this mornings score..... $109.50 in pennies




I was excited to find 3 rolls of wheat pennies..... until I opened them.... all black and cruddy with long term water damage, to bad




the Ryedale penny sorter processes approximately $150 - $180 of pennies an hour




the $109.50 took almost 1 hour to unroll into the sorter leaving me with 4 buckets, 3 zincs and 1 coppers





I then sort out the 92, 92D, 95 and 98-2000 only




I can get through about $25 worth of zincs in about 1 hour 45 minutes and another 30-40 minutes to look through the pennies I sorted out for WAM's, CAM's and DDO's

the next step is the most time saving step I do,




I use a coin sorter/counter machine to assist in the re-rolling process......this machine allows me to re-roll $55 a hour

so, to answer you question about how long is my processing time ?........to sort $50 or 100 rolls is approximately 3 hours.....remember that I dont inspect my coppers until I have gone through all my zincs, out of the $50, I average $33 in zincs to be re-rolled


and NOW its back off to the bank

I use to look at the 83's and 84' and like you say, it adds A LOT of time, my goal I set for myself is 1000 WAM's, if you going to set the "bar", I say you better set high enough so that you really have to JUMP.....

finding a 92 CAM would be very, very, very COOL also ! ! !

Snatched me a bag of pennies. Hope for some nice finds. What should I look out for besides the Flying Eagles and Indian Heads But really what should I be on the look out for?

I really, really struck out while searching the $109 of pennies I picked up Saturday........

but today is a start of a new day.......I picked up another $80 in pennies today
