Quote: Bought $32 worth of cents from several banks last week, found 7 wheaties including a really nice 1929-S and a 1937. Fantastic! Quote:I searched a box of cents that I had built over two months (it took me two months to get enough rolls, a major coin shortage where I live), and found this IHC; I was amazed that it was in the roll. Outstanding!

Yesterday, I just searched through my first box of pennies in a while. I only found three wheats (1919-s, 1942, and 1944) but was able to score another Indian Head (1903). After completing this box, I noticed that I reached 125,000 pennies searched since I first started hunting through penny rolls. I tallied everything up, and here's what I've found all total: Indian Heads: 1894, 1903, 1908 Wheat Cents: 1909(x2), 1910, 1911, 1912-D, 1913(x2), 1916, 1917, 1918-D(x2), 1919(x2), 1919-S(x4), 1920(x5), 1925(x2), 1926(x2), 1928(x3), 1929, 1930, 1930-D(x2), 1934(x2), 1935(x2), 1935-D, 1936(x3), 1937(x2), 1937-D, 1939(x5), 1939-S, 1940(x8), 1940-D, 1941(x11), 1941-D(x3), 1941-S(x3), 1942(x8), 1942-D(x5), 1943(x2), 1943-D, 1944(x35), 1944-D(x9), 1944-S(x3), 1945(x24), 1945-D(x4), 1945-S(x2), 1946(x25), 1946-D(x3), 1946-S, 1947(x2), 1947-D(x7), 1947-S, 1948(x11), 1948-D(x4), 1948-S, 1949(x4), 1949-D(x2), 1950(x10), 1950-D(x6), 1950-S, 1951(x5), 1951-D(x17), 1952(x6), 1952-D(x16), 1952-S(x3), 1953(x3), 1953-D(x25), 1953-S(x4), 1954(x3), 1954-D(x5), 1954-S(x2), 1955(x9), 1955-D(x22), 1956(x16), 1956-D(x35), 1957(x10), 1957-D(x47), 1958(x10), 1958-D(x25). Interestingly enough, all three of my Indian Head cents have been found within the past six boxes, with each coming from a different bank. However, the majority of my older wheat cents were found when I was on vacation in central Florida a couple of years back (1909, 1910, 1911, 1912-d, 1913, 1917, 1918-d, etc.) I averaged about 20 wheat cents per box across 10 boxes in central Florida, while I've only averaged a bit less than eight wheaties per box where I live in Georgia. I wonder what accounts for the discrepancy.

I had $10 in cents I somehow had forgotten to go through which I bought a few months ago... $5 each in MWR and CWR... I found 3 wheaties (49, 52-D, 56) amongst the coins.

Bought $18 worth of cents on Wednesday and I found this quite strange-looking coin in addition to a lone 1953-D wheatie. Can't say I've ever found a proof Lincoln that looked just like a normal cent before.

That proof has spent some time in the wild. Nice save! Thanks, and yeah, it has spent some time in the wild for sure! I always try to eye the date and mintmark on every coin I go through... first time I looked at it I almost tossed it aside, but my brain said "something looked weird with that one", so I went right back to it, picked it up and then put my 16x glass to it just to be sure.

So I went to my usual banks last Wednesday... I usually don't get pennies from this particular branch as they normally don't get too many customer wrapped rolls... well, the teller tells me a man had just brought in seven old-looking rolls of them... so she grabbed them for me along with 13 other CWR which were sitting on the counter that had just been brought in by another customer... So I knew I had lots of wheaties... well, it turned out to be a total of 302 of them. Roll 1: 1916, 1917, 1918, 1919, 1919-S, 1920 (2), 1925 (2), 1926 (2), 1927, 1928, 1929, 1929-D, 1929-S (5), 1930, 1930-D, 1930-S, 1934 (5), 1934-D, 1935 (4), 1935-D, 1935-S (3), 1936 (6), 1936-D, 1936-S (2), 1937 (4) Roll 2 (Pictured below): 1909, 1916, 1917, 1918 (2), 1919 (2), 1920 (3), 1925-S, 1926, 1927, 1927-S, 1928, 1928-S, 1929, 1929-D, 1930 (3), 1934 (2), 1934-D, 1935 (3), 1935-S (4), 1936 (5), 1936-D, 1936-S (2), 1937 (3), 1937-D, 1939 (5), 1939-S (2) Roll 3: 1939 (9), 1939-S (5), 1940, 1940-D (2), 1940-S (7), 1942 (10), 1942-D (4), 1942-S (10), 1952-D, 1952-S Roll 4: 1951-D (11), 1951-S (39) Roll 5: 1951-D (14), 1951-S (36) Roll 6: 1953 (2), 1953-D (7), 1953-S (41) Roll 7: 1944-D, 1956-D (the rest of the roll was mostly 1960-D Lg. Date Memorial Cents). Yeah, a nice little wheatie hoard! I went to another bank and purchased 1,000 more cents... 800 were CWR and 200 were S&S MWR... I didn't really pay much attention to the MWR until a couple of days ago when I inspected them and noticed there was one BU ender of each of the 2009 Lincoln Cent Designs. I flipped them over and they were ALL 2009 Philadelphia minted coins! Considering that I had found less than 100 of the four designs from Philadelphia COMBINED up until then, this was truly a great find for me! I had thought more than once of buying a roll set of these on ebay... well, they found me! Needless to say, this was my best Cent CRH day of the year! Finds like these are what keep me going.
