Crazy finding a '24-D wheatie in circulation... Great find, AllSeasons and thanks for posting it...
I've still been searching cent rolls too, but nothing nearly that exciting - the past week worth (3,000 searched) produced 13 wheaties... best ones were a VG 1929 and a very well-worn 1934.

That is definitely a small 1970 S. Great find.

I wonder if it would be okay to yell if the coin found was an 1856 flying eagle? or a 1969-S DDO? I think yelling in either of those cases would be justified.

Found a 1929-P from a Loomis roll today, which was an album filler. Still have 50 holes left to fill for my Wheat cent album/spreadsheet. Cheers!

Surprised you have not found a 1952 or a 1954.

Quote: Great find AllSeasons! Thank you! Quote: Surprised you have not found a 1952 or a 1954. Yea, I've been a little surprised/frustrated by that, too. But I do live outside the Philly mint area, and I find more Denver (more so) and San Francisco minted coins. I guess I'll just have to keep at it, and hope one day these will pop up in my rolls On the positive side, I did find a 1940-D in a Loomis roll today, which is a hole filler. It's another one of those not-so-rare ones that had eluded me until now. I've found quite a few 1940-P's and 1940-S's, but this is the first 1940-D I've found. So now I have 49 holes left to fill. Cheers!

Surprised you have not found a 1952 or a 1954. With a mintage of only 71.6 M, the 1954 is actually a tough find, particularly out here on the West Coast. Personally, I believe I've only found six ever. Amongst 1940-date regular circulation strike cents, only the 1949-S (64.3 M) and 1955-S (44.6 M) are more scarce in terms of mintage.

I don't believe this - I just found a 1952-P in a Loomis roll this morning! This is like the opposite of jinxing it. This Loomis box from US Bank has really been producing - found 3 album fillers, including a 1929-P, 1940-D, and 1952-P. From a collection perspective, this is the best box I've had in a very long time. And to think I almost didn't get the box, because one teller wouldn't give it out, and another teller overheard it and said sure! Anyway, only have 48 holes left to fill now. Cheers!

I think what you had there was a statistical anomaly - happens to all of us... the '54 Philly will be tougher for sure. I remember having a full year where I didn't find a single 1945-P nickel (but I was finding plenty 1944-P coins - a coin with a very similar mintage)...
