The description for this coin was Macedon, Amphipolis, 168 - 149 BC. The obverse does appear to be a young Dionysos, and the lower part of the legend "ΛΙΤΩΝ" is clear, though the upper "ΑΜΦΙΠΟ" isn't. I've tried lots of combinations of terms in searches, but can't find a match for the obverse and reverse. I can't find a goat reverse with the "ΑΜΦΙΠΟ / ΛΕΙΤΩΝ" legend and a monogram above and before either. The nearest match was this coin below on VCoins, but there is no mention of either monogram. Any help is appreciated. Jim
I make a search as well Jim, couldn't find a similar coin with monogram, the ΑΜΦΙΠΟ-ΛΙΤΩΝ in many of the coins is half visible but you can find with full name or almost full as well
After countless searches, and many different search terms, I still can't find a match for this coin. I even went on ACSearch and typed in "goat", but no match.
I must have looked at hundreds, if not thousands of goats to no avail. I think I'm done with goats!
I guess this one is destined for the mystery box after all.
