As an avid Washington collector, this variety has been high on my most wanted list for a while. After Christmas, I finally decided to pull the trigger on this one I've been eyeballing on ebay. It came in looking nicer than expected! It is a low grade, but the doubling is still very strong and prominent.

It is the big brother to the 1941 FS-801, much stronger and with a wider spread, especially on the leaves and the arrows. It should, in my opinion, be considered a major variety.

Thanks for taking a look!

Take a look at a high grade example, it's a monster:

Thank you QH, LOM! I spent some time looking for alternate examples to purchase but this is the only one for sale. Came in looking good!

Excellent variety and your images were very well done, especially the closeups. Congratulations.

Glad you got a variety you wanted. Neat coin. May have to go back to my junk silver pile yet again. Not sure I would have seen that on a worn example.

Thanks Sheldius! The beak portion is the strongest point of doubling. I'd say that and the arrows are the easiest pickup point. You can even see it with the naked eye! Good luck hunting!

Excellent acquisition! Congrats!

I'm with you , Washington's were something I really enjoyed picking when I went to shows. I even got one discovery coin under my belt from that time , 1948-DDO-007

Thank you stoneman! I certainly don't see as many Washington discoveries. Quite an accomplishment! Congrats!

Thanks! I agree. After waiting some time I decided I would take the plunge. It was well worth it to finally add this variety to my collection.
