From every angle I look at this I can't see any evidence of the lower leg of the L. Appears as Liberty has been miss spelled. Looks like Iiberty. Look forward to hearing any and all input.

Yikes that really does look like a letter I rather than a letter L. Since I don't see the underlying zinc core, I'm thinking that this was a grease-filled die rather than mechanical damage.

Fairly common. A small Grease Filled Die such as this adds no extra value.
