Looking for bonds, James bonds.
During the course of a move, I misplaced paper copies of my bonds. I'd like to request new ones; what information should I provide, other procedures, approximate cost? Let me know if any of you have gone through this process and what to expect :)

Never have but I'd venture to guess all they'd need is a copy of your driver's license and Social Security card to look them up.

Most of what we post about on this forum are collectible bonds and stock certificates, which are typically cancelled (obsolete). You are talking about "live" securities. I have not gone through the process of having to replace a lost certificate, but you'd need to contact stockholder services for the company(s) that issued the bonds. And they will probably require proof that you are who you say you are.
Good luck!

I will address this request to the investor department of your bank or go to a bonds, stocks broker. Must be someone's near you in your state.
I suggest you to go as fast is possible, because if someone find those bonds they can change the owner name been in possession of the originals and cashed. If you have the scans of those bonds or stocks another thing to do is to call direct the company(investor department), give the CUSIP number(normally find in the upper right high of the stock) and ask to cancel those lost and be replaced. (those must be before 90's, because today they are electronics ones and at a price of 200 to 250 each printed certificate, no one buy)
Good luck, hope everything will go OK

PS the brokers charge something like 100 to 200$. Your bank if you have investor account is free, so if you do not have one account like this just open one, the monthly fees go around 6 to 8$. I suggest you CIBC Ghandi New York or CIBC Mellone, they are behind Morgan, Sachs and others and are back-up be England's crown.

Thanks for the live and antique security differentiation. I'll make sure to get on this quickly and (hopefully) with little expenditure to me. Much appreciated.

Just fyi, the link provided by PlumCrazy814 is just for replacing US savings bonds, not commercial bonds. Let us know how this goes!

All bonds are accounted for and in my safe (and protective) possession! Thanks to all who commented and offered assistance.
