Regular snail mail has been fairly decent for me. The problem is the package delivery times are inconsistent.
The package I sent as part of Secret Santa this year took over 3 weeks to go its destination less than 100 miles away and ended up across the country in the process when there was no conceivable logistical reason for it to be there except that it got sorted wrong and ended up in the wrong mail bag at the origin facility.
I just sent something certified mail and was promised Thursday, but likely won't get there tomorrow. Not a big deal, but was hoping it got there the day it was promised.
In general it's very rare for something to never show up, but lately the packages tend to be a coin flip of either being early or very late.

Well the good news is the package got an update. It was destined for Nevada and is currently in North Carolina. I'll give them credit, both start with N, that means they're pretty much the same.

so! As I have said, I have 2 packages up in post office in Chicago and have been there for over a week now (one since the 7th, the other since the 13th) Magically, one package just showed up in Phoenix Az! no updates on progress nothing.. But since both packages have been there for so long, why didn't both make the long arduous journey together?

Going on day 9 with no update. This has been one of the reasons I am buying locally late. The USPS makes getting things from ebay unreliable.

All bets are off for Texas due to recent weather and collapse of power grid.

Quote: Now our postal service is in such bad shape that other industrialized nations suspend shipments to the U.S. because we can't deliver the mail.
So ... what happened? Amazon. Stuff that people used to have to go to different specialty stores to buy can now all be purchased from the comfort of their couch

So its not Amazon. https://cheddar.com/media/amazon-re...very-network

I currently have 3 coins on their way to me, 2 of them gold, so I'm holding my breath.
I did mail a letter via Certified Mail to NYC last week and was supposed to get there this past Thursday. It arrived at the destination distribution center in NY on Sunday, but no update since except "In Transit, Arriving Late". I'd like it to get there before April 15th (tax day) since it is relating to that.

I too had a package "In transit to next facility" from 2/17 - this AM. Mine was moving from PA to SLC.
My wife had a FedEx 2 day take a full 7 days, finally arriving today.

Quote:I will blame Amazon. 33% of a crap ton is still a crap ton + all other online retailers Yes, its a "crap ton" but Amazon mostly uses the USPS for only the last leg. Every Amazon package I get from the USPS is dropped off at the Post Office and then dropped off at my house. That doesn't answer why it takes 9 days for a package to get from another state to my local delivery service. The USPS isn't moving a crap ton of Amazon Packages from state to state. Also doesn't explain why my bills take a month to get to me. So by the time I get them they are already late. First Class mail doesn't travel the same way as packages. Lets not forget that since the new Post Master came in he took sorting machine out, instituted new policies like no over time. Prior to him, my mail was generally on time. I may have had a letter take an extra day or 2 not an extra month.
