I cannot tell you the last time I got something from Amazon that was not delivered by an Amazon van.

On a typical day I see two or three different Amazon vans on my street at different times of the day. Sometimes I see the same van twice! Not really efficient and makes me wonder especially when I only see FedEx, UPS, and my postal carrier make one trip a day.

What is really hilarious is yesterday I got an email from the USPS saying "resolved!'. Tracking showed the coins mailed from Hungary 0n 11/23 arrived in Jamaica,NY on 12/1 but no tracking since. This was registered mail. This was a reply to a help request and it said to file a mail search request which I did this morning. Let's see what comes out of that. It took over a month to get the response from the help request.

Wonder how well the postal system in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) operates?

The mail probably gets searched for valuables first with a sign on the frond door that says any complaints about mail delivery will result in being placed in a labor camp.

In one of the fastest deliveries ever, an item I ordered on Wednesday from Ohio is out for delivery today.

what ever happened to the USPS Motto?

The words "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"

Don't they believe in it anymore, or is it the laziness of America and nobody wants to put forth their best effort anymore? (except for me and maybe a few others)

In my opinion (and to some extent experience), the letter carriers still behave that way, but the problems are in the logistics between the sender and the letter carrier.

We have all kinds of stories on this thread and others about tracked packages where we can see that the package has sat for a week or two in a certain location that is far from both the sender and the guy (or gal) who ultimately have to deliver it to our door. Why? I sure don't know, but I don;t think it has to do wiht the behavior of the "couriers".

Yes, the motto should also apply to all the people working in between, AND to the management who need to determine the staffing levels, procedures and technology investment required for the Postal Service to meet its own targets.

I'm not sure I would agree that laziness is the main problem. My letter carrier is out every day regardless of the weather. And on my small number of visits to my local Post Office, what I find is fewer staff working the counters, and the ones who do are also performing tasks like tending to the kiosks in the lobby, etc.

Probably the issues are a lot more complicated...

I have the same experience. My carrier works hard, but it seems the local office is light on staff the few times I have been inside.

And unfortunately a lot more political, which means a large part of the conversation is better had on other venues.

ebay deliveries blowing past the guaranteed delivery date, several times. Guarantee isn't worth much except a 5 dollar ebay credit that expires in 30 days if you ask for it.

The few times I buy cheap coins on ebay that sellers shipped with just a stamped envelope got here faster than with first class delivery confirmation.

Depends on how they define "swift".
