Well, with someone of my username, how could I possibly say no?
Honestly though, while I do love cents, over the recent years, they've produced far too many of them. Overproduction at its finest.

I think the us mint should start collecting the wheat pennies and sell them to coin collectors

My major annoyance in losing the penny would be corporations would not round in the favor of the customer or per any math conventions.
$1.99 - I'm happy to pay $2 but I think we had a few posts during the peak of covid when some companies rounded $1.01 up to $2. It adds up. Am I going to go broke over $0.04 nope, will it bug me? absolutely yes.
Canada has already done this, I wonder what folks think. . .

Quote: My major annoyance in losing the penny would be corporations would not round in the favor of the customer or per any math conventions. The success of being "centsless" in Canada would seem to contradict your fear. It only takes one smart retailer to realize that rounding all cash sales down is a no-brainer. First, cash sales are cheaper than electronic sales because the processing fees will always be more than the (maximum) four cents lost on a cash sale. Second, if everyone else rounds up, they will get all the business when customers realize they are the ones rounding down. "Take care of your customers or someone else will."

Is it time to bring back the 2 or 3 cent pieces?

We should do it like Canada did, this way we have a start and end date for the cents (large and small)

The US needs to return to the Flying Eagle design but with copper plated base metal that will not corrode like zinc. It would also be interesting to make it slightly thicker than the current cent with high relief devices. AND just to make it fun, they should only mint 250,000 each year to make it IMPOSSIBLE to get them.
They could offer them at collector only prices and that would pay for all of the minting cost.
Yes, I am insane and a cute little pig just flew past the windows of my glass house. I like the cent and would like to see them stay in the US coin lineup for now, but as I just said, I am insane.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

The one cent coin should be NIFC only.
