I was going through an extra large jar of pennies and came across the one in the picture. The center looks near unirculated along with the color. The back looks good. The date (2000) is barely visible. Also the "LIB" in "LIBERTY" is missing. The "IN GOD WE TRUST" is also very light. Is this something that happened at minting? Looking for other thoughts on how this coin got this way.
Thank you all so much. I've never looked closely at most coins. I checked the date and mint mark and put them in the folder. While trying to fill my 1909 book I had a list of coin values. I noticed the few deviation that go for big bucks. It got me reading about the minting process. It's good stuff and I'll be looking out for more. P.S. I have 2 1974 D pennies that are badly mistruck. I worked in a bank rolling coins and they'd jam up the machine.
