$1 Series 1988A Notes- Real Or Fake?

I was at the coin shop and they had a nice $5 large sized red seal. It looked washed out and I could get a faint scent of gain laundry detergent. I put it close to my mask and inhaled and I could smell gain. The LCS owner says " yep it washed, when I told the seller these were washed, he says how can you tell, the LCS owner says I can smell the gain", note was priced accordingly.

I didn't taste it, as tide pods taste better
