My2cent Valued Member United States 484 Posts	Posted 04/10/2021 05:06 am I know this coin is not exactly beautiful to most people but I think it's in decent condition considering how long it has been in the wild. Was just wondering about the mint mark possibly being a RPM. I'm also curious about the issue that caused the date to look like this. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 04/10/2021 3:23 pm Looks like the punch was tilted with the top being stronger on the mintmark, the bottom weaker. Not a tilted RPM, as the serifs are not affected. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 04/10/2021 10:02 pm Checking some examples on PCGS, the devices seem a bit smaller on your coin. (Usually a die polishing issue) all the ones on their site were showing a lot of Struck Through Grease issues. But notice the Left date (1776)is larger than the right date. (1976) Grease Fill make the devices look wider as they fill the narrowest area of the devices. (top) When a dies fields are reduced, then the devices will look smaller. I think your coin had those 1976 devices polished. Why? Haven't got a clue. Report this Post to the Staff
