  The cactus! Legend has it that the Mexica people were told by the god Huitzilopochtli to build a city where they spotted an eagle perched on a cactus. Some also add that the eagle should be holding a snake in its beak (obverse), but others believe it was holding the Aztec war glyphs (reverse). The prickly pears on this particular cactus are actually human hearts...
