Hard to get a feel for the fields, based off these I'm thinking PR MS-62, might be PRMS-63 if the fields are nicer

Edit: second set of pics and the sharp strike made me think proof but obviously New Orleans = proof, duh!

Tough to gauge what's going on, MS61, maybe MS62 tops for me.

Nice EDS WB-1, with stellar rim Cuds. It's usually well struck, and this is no exception.

I'm torn here. I think I see very light obverse wear on the head, right knee, sandal, lower folds, and right arm, as well as very light reverse wear on the eagle's beak, head, neck feathers, right wing (our visual left), ans possibly left talons (our visual right). If so, this would be a really nice AU-58.

If what I am seeing is luster disruption from cabinet rub, the coin is a solid MS-63, with a shot at MS-64 because of the reverse. Either way, it's a scarce bird in mid-MS. There's a huge swing from AU-58 to mid-MS.

What I'm seeing as possible wear on the obverse is more evident than anything that looks like wear on the reverse. That could be a function of toning, or it could be the natural result of cabinet rub. I'm leaning toward cabinet rub and a solid mid-MS here, most likely MS-63.

Okay since the guesses have died off it's time to reveal the grades.

The key is none of the four half dollars I posted are proof, they are all business strikes, though two of them (#3 & #4) look a lot like proof coins. Also all were submitted for CAC and only one got approval (that's this one).

This is the SINGLE FINEST 1845-O half dollar that survives, it came out of the woodwork in the Dr. Rev. McClure Collection in 2016. I think I won't be getting this coin as it's really over the budget my friend put on his coins, and it is also the finest coin out of the four, it really needs to be seen in hand as the molted toning does hide so much of the luster this coin has. Almost no ticks or hits anywhere to note, and very original surfaces, never been wiped, dipped or cleaned.

PCGS Cert #83575428 MS66 CAC (Green)

It is also WB-108, FS-303 with a fully recut date and all digits repunched. It last sold in April 2017 for just under $20K which is about 8 times more than my friend would probably pay for a coin in his collection, but we will see, as there are none finer out there, and I know he really wants at least 1 finest known coin in his collection.

This coin really tripped everyone up, sorry I couldn't have better photos, but this is one that just needs to be in hand viewed to take in just how amazing it is.

Well I missed that one by a mile....
In hindsight, looking at the devices, it should have been evident it wasn't that low. I was so focused on trying to make out the fields. Would have never guessed 66 though.

Thanks for sharing all these westcoin!

This coin was previously in a NGC holder in MS66+ with a CAC sticker. Heritage sold it on June 12, 2016 at Long Beach sale #1236 Lot #4529 for $19,387.50

https://coins.ha.com/itm/seated-hal.../1236-4529.s

The link includes 360 video also. In the crossover to PCGS, it lost the + designation and the variety label.

It sold again this time in the new PCGS holder on April 30, 2017 at Heritage CSNS Auction #1254 Lot #4053 in Chicago for $19,975.00 the variety was correctly attributed in the sale. It was not attributed as to coming out of the McClure sale, which is odd as Heritage was the seller of the NGC coin also. Maybe someday I will ask Mark B. about why that was, could have been per the new owners request, but it seems strange not to give as much of a pedigree as possible on a finest known coin.

https://coins.ha.com/itm/a/1254-4053.s

It only cost the last owner around $50.00/month to own it.
