Double struck in collar. A lot like Machine Doubling.

There's indication of Machine Doubling and the letters seem to be extra thick I'm not saying its a doubled die but the letters are quite thick .The coin looks like it has a form of distended hub doubling class 6 even through ,I don't see seperation or notching . The class 6 doesn't show this some times just extra thickness of the elements. Jazzcoins joe

1. The thickness in the lettering on this coin was caused by the second strike.

2. The shapes of the letters moved over into the center of the letters as a light image proves my attribution.

3. Class 6 doubling does not show separation lines - at all.

4. Class 6 doubling has extra thickness toward the rim - always. Nature of the beast.

If this is a multiply struck cent, it should have some indications of doubling on the reverse as well. Since no mention of this has been made, I presume it is just a case of Machine Doubling. However, if there is some indication of doubling on the reverse, it could very well be a multiple in collar struck cent.
