1954-S Wheatie - Misplaced D Mintmark?

It really looks like a "D" mintmark smashed in with the "5" in the date. Thoughts? Report this Post to the Staff

The top part of it is definitely damage. You can see how the 9 and the 5 took a simultaneous hit. Where there is what might be displaced metal at the bottom tail of the 5 looks intriguing.
