Hello All! Hidden away for many decades in Grandpa's collection are a handful of gold coins. Pictured here are 3 24K coins. Seem to be quite rare. I posted the 1969 Moon Landing coin yesterday and got offers just over melt value.
I just feel like these would be valuable to someone's collection not simply for bullion. I feel it would be a crime to melt them. Any feedback would be appreciated. Do gold collectors only pay bullion value for a coin they want? Also, the last pic is what the "IIS" should look like on the reverse of the JFK 2.5 Ducat coin. The first "I" looks like a possible error on my coin (2nd to last pic). Opinions?

The 1915 coin is a 1 ducat restrike, and can have been struck any time after 1915 (it is still struck by the Austrian mint). Still 98.6 % gold, but has no value above that of the gold itself ($210 at current spot price).

The general answer to your question is: it depends.

@erafjel has pointed out the situation for your Austrian ducat restrike.

The medals might have interest to a thematic collector. For instance, there are collectors who specialize in space memorabilia who might pay above melt value for the Apollo piece, though supply/demand always comes into play. If a lot of these were struck, then the price will tend toward melt.

The problem is that the price of gold is at record highs. Many items which once commanded significant collector premiums are now only bullion. In 1969, for example, gold was $41/ ozt. Today it's 1,896/ ozt.

All the pictured items are medals except for the Austrian restrike which was intended to be a bullion piece. Every item has collector value and gold value. At this time the gold value of these items is much higher than the so called collector value. Would any collector pay more than melt value for these items? Not likely except maybe for the Kennedy piece.
