tnwalker10 Valued Member United States 393 Posts	Posted 02/27/2006 7:56 pm Wow! Woodenickel, you're tugging at my heart. My old home place is at the base of Roan Mtn. I have 16 Rhododendrons in my yard, all from the mtn. I now live in Elizabethton about 20 miles from the mtn. The Rhododendrons usually bloom around the third week in June on the mtn. The elevation is 6400 ft. so it takes a while. Those in my yard will be blooming in April. For those of you wondering, Roan mtn. has the largest natural Rhododendron gardens in the world. Over 600 acres all on the very top of the mtn. The flowers are a bold lavender color. Indescribable how pretty they are. Thanks for asking Woodenickel. I hope you've seen them?
