Today I braved a snowstorm to drive 80 miles round trip, and visit my favorite coin store. While there I purchased my first ever French coin. Silver, 1978, 50 Francs, BU. I'm not going to claim its the most beautiful coin I've ever seen, but it is attractive and will go well with my several one ounce Silver Bullion coin collections. Probably more important, while I was there three teenagers entered the shop. I would guess they were probably freshmen or sophomores. They thought I worked there, and asked if the was a charge for looking at the coins. I assured them that the owners were very friendly, and would welcome their interest. I quickly learned that they were "into" coin collecting as well as computers. So, I figured they would fit into our forum very well. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to bring my CC cards with me, but I did tell them all about this forum. They wrote down the name and seemed eager to get home to their computer and check out Coin Community. So, a good day. A new coin (actually more than one since I bought the 2006 Jeffersons), and hopefully some new converts to our coin forum.

Sounds like a very good day. I myself like the snow and was dissapointed this year with only getting snow 2 days out of the hole winter. Got any pics of the coin? Sounds like a nice one.
Its always a good feeling when you can help someone especially when its alot of help. As I'm sure you gave them by referring them here. More info than one can handle on this site lol

Hey Sir Gary, They got any 2006 Jefferson P mint marks out there? Something strange is going on with the P's as NO one (even the dealers) can get them here? Looks like maybe some one is playing games or perhaps a corporation, such as the crooks running the ads in the paper, have managed to scarf them all up? Has anyone here seen a P mint marked 2006 Jefferson other than the ones you can buy through the mint?

Living and working 24/7/365 in snow country with sub-zero weather crippled me. If I never seen any of that white stuff again, it won't be too soon. I have never been within easy range of a coin shop nor show, but keep up by being online. -Happily ensconced in the Arizona desert... Fred

Terry, I have seen no 2006P Jeffersons in circulation. I bought mine from my coin store. Could be they are being hoarded.
Morgan Fred, I know what you mean about snow. Some of my scariest times have been driving to Denver at night in a snowstorm. Passing semis on Vail Pass in blinding snow is no treat. The older I get the less I like the cold. We are lucky in that we are only 30 miles from the top of Grand Mesa (World's largest flat-rop mountain, 10,000 feer elevation), and we can take the Grandkids up there for sledding fun, and then return to semi-arid Delta and get away from the cold for the most part.

Its strange I havent seen a single 2006 nickel either. The 2004 and 2005 nickels made it here rather quick and I got my 2006 quater like a week or something ago but still have not seen a single new nickel at all. These people cant possibly hoard the millions or maybe billions of them before they hit circulation can they?

demonboy279 Look at the history of the 1950 D nickel and you can answer your own question! The 2006 P Jefferson nickels, at least the first couple of months worth, have gone somewhere but NOT into circulation. Seems to be the same every where!

That really stinks!!! I was really waiting for the new nickel and theres noway ill pay 20$ for that nickel cause some rich guy thinks hes gonna control it. You would think that the nickel would at least make it to the banks. But I guess not.

My bank should be getting them soon....I'll have to ask them to hold some back....don't know why as I dont' collect newer coins.... Hey Terry---How are the 2005 Buff nickels going....I kept my rolls because you said that I would be sorry if I sold.....

Hang in there Speedy! The purchase of rolls is always a LONG term thing. The 2004 Peace Medal nickels are on the move so give the 2005 nickels some time. Hey, its not like we have a lot invested in those nickels do we? Sit tight, be patient and just sit on them. I have seen the buffalo proofs have made it to the $7 level so I have already made money on that investment end of the 2005 nickels but far from ready to sell any. Haven't checked out the satins lately but still think, down the road, when all is said and done the Ocean in View will be the keeper of the series. Hate to admit it but they just didn't get their fair share of publicity and the whole world was still searching for Buffalo nickels. Not real sure but I think the OCV nickels were the least struck in the series and I still have not received one in change!

In circulation, I get about one OIV nickel for every 10 I find in my pocket.
