Here are some Junk Coins that were 'stored' in an attick in a ziplock with some silica dessicants. The Black spots are some sort of carbon or oxide. There were lots of Zinc/copper Manganese pennies with spots. But what I was curious about is the spots on Clads.

Whats up with that?

Copper is copper, whether plating, cupronickel clad, or a 95% alloy. Once the copper "catches the disease" (of oxidation, etc.), it can spread and affect Zincolns, Lincolns, and clads alike.

Probably all "spenders" now, unfortunately.
