Yesterday, I learned that my grandfather passed away in the night from a massive heart attack.
He was too young, still in his 60s. He was one of the most gentle souls I ever knew. A very quiet, calm, and sincere man.
I wish I could've spent more time with him, I had the opportunities, but I failed him. While this brings deep emotional pain for me, my concerns are not on myself, but my family, especially my grandmother.
My mother has lost her father, and her step-father in the matter of years, and such a toll is hard to bare. My grandmother depended on him for so much, and is now alone. I can't imagine the pain she must be feeling.
All in all, a wonderful man was lost too soon.

So sorry to hear of your family's loss. No amount of consoling will help, just time. When I lost my father, I tried to find something to focus on to battle the grief. I always like the New Orleans style procession that celebrates a person's life with music. I have zero musical ability and decided to Celebrate him and the little things in his life that reminded me of him! Focusing on that one word, Celebrate, did wonders to help me cope with the grief. Writing "Celebrate" about 8 times on my copy of the poem I read at his service helped me focus on positive thoughts. Also, asking others to share a word or two that reminded them of him will help everyone get through this difficult time. (The word that came to mind for my father was "Garlic". It still brings a smile to my face! ) Our thoughts will be with you and remember to focus on the good and maybe even some humorous things he did for his family. Know that we'll be thinking of you.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

It's tuff to lose any family member .Death is a part of life that every human being must go through . Just remember time heals all wounds . You'll never forget the deceased but the pain will diminish as time goes by .

@Silver Cents, I buried a daughter in 1979 (aged 2); a daughter aged six in 1977 and a daughter aged 25 in 2009. I feel your sorrow. I've spent some time in in the widerness that holds you now. Quote: I wish I could've spent more time with him, I had the opportunities, but I failed him. I suggest from my experience that grief is idivisable. When we truly grieve, as you must now, we must deal with all our life's grief, not just that at hand. Let this happen. You've no choice. Kevin

Thank you all very much, every single one of your comments means dearly.
Pete, your words are very encouraging, thank you for taking the time to share them with me.
Tony, you are very right indeed, I will remember that.
And Kevin, I am so terribly sorry to hear about the pain you've endured. Your advice is true, and I will follow it.
Thank you all once again.
