after finding this forum, I have a renewed interested in coin collection, and I have started re-finding some coins in storage boxes that I haven't looked in for MANY years. I have several much older coins that I would like help with grade opinions. here is the first. I also have 1 Liberty nickel 1892, 1 barber half 1898, 1 liberty seated half 1860S, 1 Walking Liberty half 1917, 1 Standing Liberty quarter 1930. here is the Franklin half. opinions are appreciated. thanks
I am guessing that you scanned this coin since I cannot see a bit of luster. I think I see some rub so I will call it AU. With better pics, it could go higher.
the camera I am using is a kodak - easyshare cx7720, 2.0 mega pixels, with a 3x (max.) zoom. I use it mostly for photographing buildings. so far I haven't been too successful with coins.
If that camera has a timer for the shutter, and a macro mode for getting up closer to the coin, you may be able to take passable (is that a word?) pics of larger coins. Tripod or something to hold the camera steady required.
But dimes, cents, and nickels would be more difficult.
