Could be, but the second lobe does not run parallel to the first, so it may have just taken a hit and moved the metal around a bit

As Dearborn said, looks like a hit but regardless, not a doubled die. Here is your pic with a normal ear beside yours. They are the same size and a doubled die would be larger, well below the ear.
