@captainmandrake1: Have you confirmed that your Grant piece is genuine?

It looks questionable to me, but larger images of both sides would be needed for me to comment further,

No, to my eyes, it's the design details and overall "look" - the design appears a bit "off" and the piece appears to have been artificially aged.

Ok, thanks. I think I'll make a new post about the coin with larger pictures in the appropriate section of the forum.

In 1997, the US Mint launched a new platinum coin program. It featured 1/10-ounce, 1/4-ounce and 1/2-ounce fractional coins in addition to a one-ounce coin - all were struck as bullion coins. The Mint also made proof versions for collectors. In 1998, it launched its "Vistas of Liberty" series of proof-only coins for collectors; each year of the five-year program featured a design of an eagle flying over/in a different region of the United States. I collected the 1/4-ounce fractional coin version of each release in the series.

Here's the 1999 coin, which depicts two different trees growing in the swapland conditions:

1999 Proof Platinum $25 / Quarter-Ounce "Vistas of Liberty" - Southeastern US

The obverse presents a bold close-up view of Liberty's face as seen on the Statue of Liberty (aka, "Liberty Enlightening the World"). The John Mercanti design was used as the obverse for the proof Platinum Eagle series through 2017.

The reverse scene, another by John Mercanti, presents a bald eagle at its center, flying through a swamp scene. Moss is shown hanging from a bald cypress tree (Taxodium distichum for those with a more scientific bent) at right, and a swamp black-gum tupelo tree (Nyssa biflora) at left, bushes and duckweed are seen along the water line and an American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis), is seen coming out of the water at the lower left. (Per the US Mint, it is definitely an American alligator vs. a crocodile.)
