As Numis Ed "bullied" me into getting a 1000 Escudo coin, here we go.
Today's coins is 1,000 Escudos from 1999 which commemorates 1000 years of Atlantic sailing and the 1998 Worlds (fair) Expo in Lisbon.
Elizabeth and I attended the 1998 Expo (we were in our 20's

, I want to be in my 20's again

). And while I have lots of pictures, they are all on film...
The youngens among us may ask what is this
film you speak of?
Before your phone could take pictures, count your steps, warn you about Covid, do CPR and also read your mind, the only way to take a picture was to use this tool called a camera.
The camera loaded this silver based emulsion (film) into itself and then you composed the picture (like manually) and then pressed the shutter. And you would wait and wait until the roll was complete and processed. Only until the picture was printed you wouldn't know what you had. Many times the pictures were blurry (like now but with no social media to post them on, the blurry photos only went to an album not CCF or FaceBook or Instagram), only you knew you took bad pictures unlike today. Sometimes they looked like this:

Other times not.
But I digress, here is the coin. From some research I did the 1,000 Escudos coins did circulate, I don't know how much as I never saw 1 in circulation.
