hfjacinto How do you store your coins

For the higher cost coins I use acetate flips with a small note of the coins specifics.

For the coins I got from circulation or as gifts but common and low cost. I put into 2 by 2 and store in an album.

I broke my rule and picked up a few Euro (silver) commemorative but the price is so close to bullion, I didn't mind and found 7 coins (Reis and escudos) I really wanted so it's a nice addition to the collection. But I'm mean and that means you'll have to wait a little longer

Since @Numis Ed "bullied" me into going to Portugal to add coins to my collection, I figured its time I post a few (I got 14 and 4 notes).

First off lets start off with Portugal its just a beautiful country, but please don't visit, too many tourists already there :) I don't know why. I mean the weather is pretty nice, as are the beaches and the history and the food.

There are castles everywhere.

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

And the cities are really walkable.

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

But its just old, heck even the universities are 730 years old.

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

And trying to do selfies, just no place to do it.

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

And Church's are kind of blah..

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

Even train stations, nothing to look at.

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

And public buildings, I mean who wants to look at this?

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

And the scenery is just not dramatic...

Its not like your going to find a random church on a promotory.

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

And church interiors. What's with all the gold?

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

And the beaches, nothing to look at.

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

And no one goes there, well maybe a few crazy surfers to ride 100 foot waves, but they are crazy. Its not like they created a museum to the surfers of Nazare. Who is this Garret McNamara? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garrett_McNamara

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

And another reason you shouldn't go, they have a money museum. Who wants to see the a museum dedicated to money?

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

And transportation is all over the place and most of its electric, from 100 year train cars to tuk/Tuks.

A-Collection-Of-Coins-From-Portugal

So DON'T GO to Portugal.

Sadly I ran out of time, I'll post pictures of the coins later

Hfjacinto, do I detect a slight hint of sarcasm in your post.

Very nice pictures though. I does look like a beautiful place to visit.

Steve,

Would I do a sarcastic post ?

Me?

But seriously, I made you wait enough time. Today's coin is a 100 Escudo Proof commemorating the 4th centennial of the deah of D. António, Prior of Crato.

António, Prior of Crato (1531 - 26 August 1595; sometimes called The Determined, The Fighter, The Independentist or The Resistant), was a grandson of King Manuel I of Portugal who claimed the Portuguese throne during the 1580 dynastic crisis. According to some historians, he was king of Portugal for 33 days in 1580.Philip II of Spain prevailed in the succession struggle, but António claimed the throne until 1583.
