Another nice tableau showing the early Industrial Revolution in action at an Iron works, this time from Taunton, Somersetshire, where a few members of the Cox family ran a successful foundry and retail shop for at least 30 years dating from 1793.
This undated one-penny token, a Peter Wyon product, is a fairly common example of the many tokens that circulated widely across Britain in 1811-12 as necessity coinage. Withers 1125, Davis 121, 35mm, 18.7g.
