Hi Friends,

So I found a 1969 American Motors Corporation Stock Certificate. It was never cashed out. Does anyone know if it would be worth anything besides a collectors item? Been searching the web, but can't find any thing that says for sure.

Thanks
Newbie

Probably only as a collectible. AMC hasn't existed since the 1980s.

AMC was bought by Chrysler in 1987. You might want to contact them.

I would say it isn't worth anything as a stock certificate because even Chrysler stock isn't worth anything, since it went bankrupt in 2008. It might be worth a little as a curiosity.

Keep in mind that unless the stock certificate is made out in your name, or you are the heir, then you won't be able to cash in the stock even if the shares still have value.

I'm still holding onto the dream of owning an AMC Gremlin, but my coin buying keeps trumping the budget for necessary unnecessary buying. Someday this Numisnerd will get his priorities straight. Someday.

My boyfriend owns two AMCs right now... 1973 AMXs... I sold mine a few years ago... but he has owned MANY of them through the years.

I have been told by some Jeep peeps that Chrysler only bought AMC to get hold of their in-line-6 engines, which powered the Cherokee for years after until Daimler got a hold of them. Then Fiat... which now is owned by some odd-sounding company, not even Italian...

... shame...
