A friend of mine found such a coin. And the coin is now in my collection. There are two dots on the reverse of the coin after SAECVL FELICIT. I found several variants of this coin in OCRE http://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric....629?lang=en) and on other coins either there are no dots at all or there is one dot or two dots like my coin. Are these different variations of this coin? And what do these dots mean, why does their number change?
There are quite a few coins of Domna and Sept. Sev. that have these dots. We don't know their function but I have guessed that they are used as spacers. I don't think that we will ever know what they were intended for. There are other dots that occur with this type that I find even more interesting and these appear between the stars and suppose that these might be fainter stars behind 7 major stars....
@maridvnvm - Thank you very much for your interesting point of view. Is the coin of Sept. Sever you posted of Alexandria Mint? The portrait of Sept. Sever is very similar to Alexandria Mint.
