Elongated Coins Celebrating The First Steamboat Of 1911

captainrich Pillar of the Community United States 982 Posts	Posted 11/17/2021 7:45 pm This 1911 "First Steamboat" elongated is listed as 'LAno1' in Martin & Dow's Yesterday's Elongateds catalog, and I have managed to find examples rolled on a Wheat cent, Liberty nickel, Barber dime, Barber quarter and British Penny. There's another 1911 First Steamboat variety in Martin & Dow listed as 'LAno2,' which does not have the phrase "Play the Ohio," but I haven't been able to find any examples of it. ironhorse Valued Member Canada 363 Posts	Posted 11/17/2021 9:39 pm Interesting set of elongated coins you have there...the holed example is on a 1911 Canadian large cent ( Godless legend) not a British penny but I can understand why you may have thought that with George on it. A few dies exist from the older machines, but they are scarce and collectors are quick to report and/or cancel old dies when they are found. The catalog Yesterday's Elongateds also reports the existence of some specific dies and warns that re-rolls are possible.
