I have several 1960 large date and 1960-d small and large date Lincolns that absolutely shine like a car's headlights
. The lines are so persuasive that a hairline couldn't show if it wanted to. These are front and back. I can not see a mark on either side. I checked the building (all steps are full), the rims are perfect. All designs on the building are prominent. All letters are sharp. To the naked eye the coin shimmers. Under the microscope the lines jump out at you. Do the polishing marks or scratches determine if the coin grades coin grades ms-67+ or ms-68. I am telling you not one tiny mark. Woth submitting or not?. I know , I know pictures please. Working on that and coming soon to a theater near you. By the way I have researched for days about this subject and can't seem to settle on an answer

Without pics, opinions are worthless, as you know.

Just for illustrative purposes; but this is the same reason AU coins often "look" better than most low grade mint state coins. But there is a distinct difference between a coin that has been buffed/whizzed and one that grades AU.
