Bought this gold coin at spot for the gold content at a pawnshop here in Bogotá. It's a 1968 Colombia Gold 100 Pesos Pope Paul VI - International Eucharistic Congress, and weighs 4.3 grams (.900 purity).

Researching a bit, I read that this coin was minted in Arezzo, Italy and some had an "NI" mintmark. I found this odd since mine shows a "B" mintmark (which I assume is for Bogotá). Why the two different mint marks on a lower mintage coin? I am confused now if mine was minted in Italy or in Bogotá.

I've also read that the BU mintage of this coin is 108.000, and the Proof mintage 8.000. Is my coin a BU or Proof coin? I think mine is a proof, but I am not completely sure.

To make matters a bit more confusing, just saw that the small case the coin came with, has the "NI" Arezzo, Italy mint mark on it inside; while the coin has the "B" Bogotá, Colombia mint mark. Not sure if it means anything.

There is no scarcity of these coins for sale on ebay in all the denominations up to 1500 pesos. Some have NI mintmark, some have B mintmark. Asking prices for the 100 pesos range over $300 USD, so buying one for spot is a good bargain. However they do not look like numismatic rarities.
