Wow, very nice. I've never used hydrogen peroxide or a silver brush in all my years of cleaning. I use Le Crayon a Andre - Coin Cleaning Pencil Set for stubborn dirt. The DIVO MAXIMIANO is more than a good - find congrats on that one.

Here are two tiny coins from the lot. The first is a 12 mm. Arcadius AE-4 with cross on the reverse. You seldom see this little coins this nicely centered with full legends and mint mark. So far, it's my favorite coin from the group. It still has a bit of dirt in the devices. I'm not sure if I am going to leave it as is or try and remove these last tiny spots. The second is a decent Constantine the Great posthumous AE-4 with VN MR on the reverse.

The Arcadius is my favorite coin from the lot, so far. It's a lot better looking than the photos show.

One of the bigger coins in the lot, an AE-24 of Commodus from Pautalia with reverse of Asclepius holding a staff with a serpent around it. Not great but not horrible either.

Three new ones to add to the cleaned category. I have found about 25 nice coins in the lot so far. The pile of culls continues to grow and there are a good number of coins with details, but not great ones. I'm still having fun cleaning them. A Constans FEL TEMP REPARATIO AE-3 with Emperor in galley reverse. A CONSTANTINOPOLIS AE-3 from Heraclea with a nice green patina. And a Constantius II FEL TEMP REPARATIO AE-3 from Sirmium.

Wow, you've come across a lot of nice coins. I tried the same about 10 years ago and didn't find anything as nice as you are finding.

You are getting amazing results from this batch of coins, but the first Severus II and Valens coins are nigh on perfect. I tried various ways of cleaning coins in the past, but never got super results like these. Kudos.

@Paul Bulgerin -
Any more updates from your restoration project? I have a similar bag of ancients and wondered if I should try cleaning them.
I got my bag of ancients as part of a massive haul of world coins, then I put the bag off to the side where it sat ever since.
I love identifying world coins, but ancients have always eluded my skill set, thus my question:
In your opinion, is it worth the effort to restore a big bag of ancients?
Are you getting good results overall or was there just a few pieces that came out ok?
Any more pics?

I have about forty culls sitting around. All in all, I found a handful of very nice coins and a good number of decent ones. I resold all the ones I cleaned, but one, a small AE-4 with cross reverse. I made a decent profit and had a lot of fun cleaning the coins.
Thanks for asking.
