Strange. Here in Canada, we just buy coin tubes and re-roll them. Some are preformed, and you just slide the coins into the middle and crimp down the ends, but the better ones have the "ring" formed at one end and you just merely crimp down the other. It would never enter my mind to take a bag of loose cents into the bank and expect them to count and roll.

This is done all the time. I have brought rolled coins in before and they opened the rolls and send the coins through the counter any way. They had to have the total of change to get send off. This is a credit union bank.
