UK 2 Pence 1797 Cartwheel - only slightly larger than an Ike in diameter (41 mm vs. 38.1 mm) but much thicker (5 mm vs. 2.58 mm) and heavier (56.7 g vs. 22.68 g).
Fantastic!

Ike looks almost anemic!

I like that UK 2 Pence, Hondo. But why such a huge coin for a small denomination? Even back in the day, the metal alone would be worth more? Or not?

NumisEd, it was commodity money in that the coin contained 2 pence worth of copper (at that time). I suppose that it bought more than we might think but I'm not sure how much. They didn't last for a long time as before long the copper value exceeded the declared value and you know what happened next!

I didn't think it would fool you Hondo, (I was hoping that jbuck would see it first.) But your first response help to make jbuck's reply even better.

But jbuck's reply was just as funny
