I saw this basket today for about $250. I didn't take it out of the case to photograph individually...

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

That's over $10 each. None of them look in great shape, some may not be identifiable. Based on what I see, I would pass.

Roma - I would pass. Maybe a couple of dollars a piece, if you want to have fun with ID'ing.

Plus with the humidity they are letting them contaminate each other with bronze disease in that case. Of course I had to look at the photo so I rotated it and enhanced it a bit. Making an offer is not a bad Idea. The Pius As is not bad, do I see a Domna? I'd look again folks, a few have some decent value, is one thick enough to be a Sestertius? You handed me that batch for $75 I'd do OK with it, clean them up a bit and full ID. So will they take offers? (Just to save the poor things from that condition they are subject to!)

In the picture, none of 17 coins identifiable.
Nevertheless, one or two of them may well turn out to be interesting.
My rule of thumb for coins in this condition is that the value of each identified coin could double.

In my view, if you want to have a bit of fun identifying after purchase,
a pre purchase price in the $5 to $10 range per each (= $85 to $170) for the lot, would be appropriate.

I have cherry picked individual very poor condition ancient coins out of dealers' junk boxes, rather than buy the bulk lot. Much greater chance of doubling their value

Thank you all very much! I am pleased that your comments confirm my insincts . . . I am going to pass. My general feeling is the lot is overpriced for a 'project' lot.
Thanks again!
