I'm thinking about buying this coin, but I'm not sure if it's worth the $100 asking price. I really like how it looks though.
It's from Sicily 420-344 BC, head of Himera.
Not sure what this means but it might mean something to someone, SNG ANS 186.

You can see estimates and hammer prices at CNG. I recommend you go to cNGCoins.com, then click on Research Sold Items at the upper right.

Use this on the Search line: SNG ANS 186 Sicily

This is important: the results are divided into four sections. The sections that are most helpful are eAuctions and Feature Auctions. Peruse those sections and you'll see lots of sales of the same type. Look particularly for coins that seem comparable to "your" coin in terms of condition. Compare those hammer amounts to the asking price you're wondering about.

Two additional methods (other than auction house results) I use in order to value a coin:

Search ebay and on the right "Show only" click on Sold / Completed Items

Search vcoin sales via Google Images > eg.keywords>>>>> Julius Caesar Denarius vcoins sold.
The results will show In stock or Out of stock, once you click it will give you the sale prices

With a "common" coin, so there are enough out there someone can wait for another, condition is everything and second is the strike centered. A little bit off struck on the reverse, and obverse is fine. The nymph often has like three pendant earrings or one, I am not sure if yours is the one or if there is damage there so pitting. Anyway a poor but it is all there example is about $10, Mid range but just under your example about $30, VF+ and especially with the three earrings and you can get $150 even. Your example is about $50-$60. A coin where there are a lot of examples trade like bullion in a finite range and the set of parameters is specific to each. This one is well understood by the market and is more predictable than most for what they will sell for.
