I'm fresh in numismatics but find this hobby very interesting and would like to learn from you. Your forum is really useful. Recently I've found the following coin - 400 years of telescope from Republic of Palau. What do you think about it?
This was issued as a proof set of two 5 Dollar coins, each at 25 grams .925 silver. The set comes in a cherry wood case and sells from between $160-$200.
Palau is one of several countries that are used as a "flag of convenience" by several small, private mints to make whatever gimmicky "coins" they wish, and still be able to legally call them coins because the government of Palau has authorized them. There's at least one mint in the USA (probably more), and one in Germany, that has issued coins in the name of Palau.
I do not know which mint is responsible for the particular coins in question, but it is highly doubtful that anyone actually in Palau has ever seen one of these coins, or is even aware of their existence.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
