Yes, life during the years of the revolution was hazardous - honored one day, accused of treason the next, in line for the guillotine the third. Happened to many more than the king. The republic was proclaimed - and the king deposed - in September 1792. It took quite a while to decide on what new coins should look like, and time to design and make the dies. Still, it is interesting that royal coins were minted for the most part of 1793, long after Louis XVI had been decapitated in January 1793. Quote: 1721 Louis XV ecu Paris (A) Lovely!
